How To Design the Perfect Outdoor Event
Have you heard? Spring has officially sprung! 🌸
For event planners, the arrival of warmer weather and longer days presents the perfect opportunity to showcase their creativity with spectacular outdoor events. With Easter and Mother’s Day around the corner, your clients are likely eager for event spaces that radiate the vibrant, sunny spirit of the season.
From beachside weddings to backyard gatherings, nature offers a versatile canvas ripe for creative decoration. But the big question remains: how do you select the perfect design and style that will make your guests revel in the great outdoors?
Here are our tips for planning and designing an outdoor event this spring:
Get Colorful
Nothing says spring like bright colors. Using vibrant hues like yellow, blue, orange, and pink can inject excitement and charm into your event and make guests feel welcome. Colors can be incorporated using furniture, props, linens, draping, or lighting—nothing is off-limits! Infusing an event space with a bright color can totally transform the look and feel of the space. To further enhance the atmosphere, consider using colorful decor elements such as fruits and flowers. These natural elements not only add to the aesthetic but also bring a fresh, lively vibe to the setting. Our Naples Collection bike cart, complemented by rattan and bamboo furniture, turned this outdoor rehearsal dinner into a night filled with enchantment under the stars.
Embrace Natural Elements
Take inspiration from the natural sights and textures around you. Enhance the natural landscape with elements like cotton, linen, wood, bamboo, silk, or wicker. Cover reception tables with natural fabric tablecloths or table runners to create the perfect base. Pairing wood furniture with vibrant florals can transform your space, so we suggest utilizing display tables, wicker baskets, or fruit crates with dark wood to contrast the florals and make them pop. This engagement party did a perfect job invoking spring with our Bali wood and cane back dining chairs, paired with round wood tables from our Siena collection. And no one could miss those gorgeous florals displayed on our dark wood display table.
Prioritize Comfort
Comfortable furniture is key for any outdoor event. From plush, oversized couches to stylish lounge chairs, each piece invites your guests to relax and enjoy the festivities. Outdoor event furniture should not only be functional but also add to the aesthetic appeal of your event, with designs that blend seamlessly with the natural beauty of outdoor settings. These weddings both did an incredible job of infusing comfort with style with our velvet lounge chairs, bouclé sofas, and luxury coffee tables.
Use Mood Lighting
Even with longer days of sun, chances are your party might extend into the evening. And you don’t want your guests in the dark! This wedding on the Orchard Lawn of the Ojai Valley Inn needed lighting that would match the ambiance and decor while setting the mood. We helped by installing wood truss covers in a finish matching our gorgeous reclaimed wood bar. Our gently glowing pendant lamps cast a warm glow over the party, with string lighting connecting every part of the event.
Drape the Space
April showers bring May flowers, so it’s important to have an option for guests should the elements turn against you. Adding fabric and draping to an outdoor event space can transform the vibes from simple to spectacular. Draped tents and canopies provide a safe haven from the elements as wind barriers and shade but can also be used to separate spaces, guide your guests through the event, or make a killer first impression with a draped entrance. This outdoor wedding, featured in Inside Weddings, got the full Revelry treatment with velvet draping, a gorgeous canopy, mood-setting lighting, luxe furniture, tableware, and kids’ furniture.
Whether you’re planning a backyard brunch or an elegant garden party, choosing the right draping and decor is essential. Explore our latest outdoor event decor on our website to discover the perfect items for your springtime events.
