The Art of Transformation Part 7: Fashion

December 31, 2011 12:02 am Published by The Revelry Team Leave your thoughts

I often attend the parties I design and, as such, want to look my best. For me, that entails being an extension of the environment I have created. If I’ve designed a party with a Moroccan theme, I will wear something Moroccan-inspired without going to the extreme. For instance, I might choose a shirt with a similar print or color, but draw the line at wearing a fez and tunic. If your party hinges around the idea of black, white and gold, why not pick the perfect outfit to go with the color scheme and wear it with pride. As long as you keep your ensemble simple and elegant, you can’t go wrong; and as an extension of your environment,... Read More

The Art of Transformation, Part 5: Fabric Treatments

December 2, 2011 6:11 pm Published by The Revelry Team Leave your thoughts

Fabric stitched it’s way into my life back in the days when I was a fashion designer and it has played an integral role every since. I wrap my environments in fabric the same way I wrapped women in fabric so many years ago. But life is better now. Tents and ballrooms never complain about the color or the fit. Fabric treatments are the cornerstone of my business and are a featured element in a vast majority of my designs. The type and style of treatments I employ are as unique as the parties that inspire them. Sometimes the treatment is a lush, frilly, and very feminine look, such as that of Kate Beckinsale‘s wedding on the lawn at Hotel... Read More

The Art of Transformation: Part 3, Seating

November 11, 2011 7:14 pm Published by The Revelry Team Leave your thoughts

Let’s talk about my favorite: the lounge, where guests can relax and linger over a drink and conversation. I’m going to show you how to create a fabulous lounge for your next party at home. We’ve all heard the expression “Mi casa es su casa. My house is your house,” but few people in their right mind stroll around spouting “me cama es su cama,” or “my bed is your bed.” I can, however, think of one instance where it might not be so inappropriate. The next time you’re hosting a party with a lounge, why not borrow your bed (double or larger) for the evening. Place the box spring and mattress (leave the frame in the bedroom) in the... November 9, 2011 9:00 am Published by The Revelry Team Leave your thoughts

We’ve got professional photos to share with you of Melina and Patrick’s beautiful wedding! These photos by Bob and Dawn Davis are stunning! Melina and Patrick were married at the Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay hotel on the beautiful Northern California coast. The Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay is a top-notch golf course and spa resort hotel 20 miles southwest of San Francisco. The resort offers cottages as well as lovely rooms in the main building that are reminiscent of old Scotland. The ceremony was held on the Gazebo Lawn and our Revelry artisans draped lots of fabric throughout the gazebo and hung our beautiful chandelier. The gazebo sits on an ocean bluff, overlooking miles of gorgeous coastline. The ceremony was all... Read More

The Art of Transformation: Part 2, The Table

November 4, 2011 6:10 pm Published by The Revelry Team Leave your thoughts

Whether the festivities involve a formal sit down dinner, a sumptuous buffet spread, or simple passed hor d’oeuvres, most parties require some type of table setting to make the consumption of food easy and enjoyable. Your table setting should be a constant delight for the senses, but it should also be practical and easy for your guests, without compromising your creative vision. Linens and napkins. From simple linens to an elegant tablecloth crowned with an opulent overlay, festooned with beads and jewels, there are many ways to make a table look beautiful. If you want to show off your gorgeous table, why not try a table runner? Maybe your table isn’t your prized possession, or you just want to present... Read More
