The Art of Transformation Part 7: Fashion

December 31, 2011 12:02 am Published by The Revelry Team Leave your thoughts

I often attend the parties I design and, as such, want to look my best. For me, that entails being an extension of the environment I have created. If I’ve designed a party with a Moroccan theme, I will wear something Moroccan-inspired without going to the extreme. For instance, I might choose a shirt with a similar print or color, but draw the line at wearing a fez and tunic. If your party hinges around the idea of black, white and gold, why not pick the perfect outfit to go with the color scheme and wear it with pride. As long as you keep your ensemble simple and elegant, you can’t go wrong; and as an extension of your environment,... Read More

Lindsay and Jon

December 26, 2011 8:59 pm Published by The Revelry Team Leave your thoughts

Lindsay and Jon decided to have a destination wedding in Santa Monica. They live in Chicago and wanted to have a wedding that included sunshine and palm trees. They chose the Fairmont Miramar as their venue and the amazing Alicia Townsend of Details Details created a beautiful wedding for them. Square tables were decorated with white orchids and smaller arrangements of hydrangea, dahlias, reflexed roses, and lisianthus. The color scheme was mainly white, but with pops of purple. The reception was beautiful and instead of a sit-down dinner, Lindsay and Jon decided on food stations so guests could mingle and eat when they wanted to. Congratulations Lindsay and Jon! Erica and Ari’s wedding was beautifully dreamy and elegant. The ceremony on The Beverly Hills Hotel lawn was magical and included a gorgeous chuppah supported by Revelry mirrored columns and topped with beautiful clouds of cherry blossoms by Floral Art. The Crystal Ballroom was decorated with hundreds of crystals hanging from the ceiling, our white lounge furniture and diamonds tables. We adorned the stage with mirrored, wooden panels and draped our beautiful fabric in layers. The orchids and candles in glass containers, placed on the mirrored tables created a lovely ambiance. Guests danced all night and got to snack on In -N- Out Burger at the end of the evening! Photographer: Samuel Lippke & John Boone for Samuel Lippke Studios Furniture,... Read More

The Art of Transformation, Part 6: Props

At Revelry Event Designers, anything that isn’t a piece of furniture, fabric or lighting is labeled a “prop.” While furniture and fabric may be the cake and frosting of my designs, props are definitely the nonpareils of my creation. They provide the finishing touches and complete the look. Some of my props include shoji screens and other room dividers, oversized ornately framed mirrors, fire walls comprised of metal shelving units on which I place votives to create a glowing panel of light, as well as other decorative elements such as garlands of mirror disks and beautiful capiz shells. But if forced to confess, my most exalted and useful prop would have to be the bar. Bars are a fundamental element... Read More

Kristen and Austin’s Ojai Valley Inn Wedding

December 5, 2011 9:54 pm Published by The Revelry Team Leave your thoughts

It was a gorgeous day at the Ojai Valley Inn for Kristen and Austin’s Mindy Weiss wedding. We brought our beautiful Versailles tables and chairs for the reception and Mark’s Garden went all out with gorgeous florals hanging from the trees. The reception’s color palette in lavender, pink, green and yellow with roses, dahlias, succulents, hydrangea and herbs was beautiful and smelled great! Images by Lighting created a lovely mood and Charm City Cakes made an adorable cake that included Kristen and Austin’s dog! The Cake Divas also made dog-themed Milk Bone Cookies for the guests as a parting gift. We love it when people include their best friends in their wedding celebration!
